The Revolve Film and Music Festival will debut August 6-10 at the Fine Arts Center at Salem College and in Carswell Hall at Wake Forest University. Founded by musician Shalini Chatterjee, the nonprofit focuses on films and music with inspiring, story-centric, nonviolent messages (while staying far away from the saccharine, says Shalini). At least 25 films will be screened during the festival, and live music will be showcased in conjunction with some viewings. The festival marks the culmination of eight months' worth of Revolve screenings in the Carrboro, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem areas. For a complete listing of films and showtimes or to purchase tickets, visit revolvefestival.com.

A new film festival, the Revolve Film and Music, will debut next week in the Triad.

Shalini Chatterjee, a Kernersville resident and rock musician, created the film series to promote inspiring and uplifting films that brighten peoples' lives.

The main festival will premiere in June and feature 35 films, including international works and North Carolina premieres, over five days.

In the meantime, the festival will present monthly film screenings in the Triad and Chapel Hill area starting at 8 p.m. Jan. 26 at Carswell Hall, Room 111, on the campus of Wake Forest University.

The screening will feature the world premiere of KNITTING LESSONS, a 10-minute film by Mary Dalton, PhD., with an introduction by the filmmaker and a Q & A following the film; and RUN GRANNY RUN, a 70-minute film by Marlo Poras, and winner of the Audience Award at South by Southwest Film Festival in 2007. Tickets are $7.14 and are available at revolvefestival.com.
