TRIANGLE FILMMAKERS PROGRAM Fri., Aug. 8, 7:30 PM, at the Drama Workshop, Salem Fine Arts Center VERONICA ALWAYS - North Carolina Premiere! After visiting his beloved Uncle Gene in assisted living, filmmaker Nic Beery drove by a particularly eyesore repair shop carport on the way home. The ugly factor was just too much. Beery was inspired to make something beautiful, incorporating all elements to create a balance, and this film is the result. It does sparkle, and Grahame Davies' original theme song at the end is the icing on the cake. -SC WHAT THE FROCK?! I watched this twice and laughed out loud. Coming from a programmer, that's saying a lot. Written by Jeffrey Moore, who also stars. –SC 4 MINUTES ON AN ABANDONED BRIDGE Peaceful and panoramic. –SC |

Nic Beery: Back in the early 1980s I was one of the "world's greatest clowns" touring
with Ringling Bros. Circus. Every town we visited, the local TV news reporter was there. When they interviewed my buddies and myself and
put it on TV, it wasn't the same as what they shot. I later found out that
was called "editing" and I liked it! Somebody was manipulating the story
to fit their desires, interests and whims. I wanted to do that.
Now, after many years in industry, I still enjoy it. Editing the puzzle pieces known as footage into a coherent, compelling and beautiful story. Producing stories that entertain and make a difference.
I've worked in virtually every production area in Video (graphic designer, sound designer, cameraman, writer, editor, project manager and video producer). I have won numerous Telly awards. I've managed and produced multi-media projects for Major Industries, Associations and International and Domestic news agencies. I hold a Certificate in Film Production from New York University.
Recently my family relocated to Carrboro, NC from Washington, DC. We have found a creative, hip place to live, raise our kids and find stories that are off the beaten path but well worth telling.
I have produced several short films that have been official selections in festivals around the U.S. Titles include "NightLife," "Borderline Bonfire," and "Meet Lora Pendleton."
I own BeeryMedia.com and occasionally will take a paying job. I also am the past chair and founder of the Carrboro Film Festival, which held its inaugural festival in 2006 to standing room only audiences. I also am the volunteer coordinator for the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival.
Todd Tinkham worked with at-risk teenagers and incarcerated men for 15 years before becoming a filmmaker. In 2005 Tinkham made his first short, "Spreading the Word," with a small group of friends in Carrboro, NC. That film went on to screen at more than 30 film festivals in the US, Canada and Europe. Tinkham's short drama "Riverside" premiered at the 2005 Golden Lion Film Festival in Swaziland, Africa, and has gone on to win several awards.
Tinkham has written and directed 18 short films that have screened at more than 200 film festivals in North America, Europe, Africa, Australia and Asia, including SLAMDANCE, the Rhode Island International Film Festival and the Short Film Festival of India. Tinkham lives and works in Chapel Hill, NC. Learn more about Tinkham at tinkhamtown.org.
