RACHEL: A PERFECT LIFE - North American Premiere! Sponsored by the Australian Embassy, Washington DC Thu., Aug. 7, 2 PM, at the Drama Workshop, Salem Fine Arts Center Synopsis from the Filmmaker: Rachel is a single mother and a very resilient young woman who has faced many problems in her life. Now she wants brain surgery to rid her of the epilepsy that is ruling her life. This intimate observational documentary follows her through the assessment process for this surgery and the subsequent brain surgery, with many twists and turns along the way. This film's appeal lies in the personality of its subject, Rachel Ouchirenko, and her truly brave and forthright approach to solving her biggest problem. The editing by Zbigniew Friedrich is brisk and seamless. Producer/director Fiona Cochrane treats her subject with respect and dignity, resulting in a resonating story of a disadvantaged individual's risk and triumph. -SC |
